Cerenia injectable solution is used in cats and dogs for prevention of acute vomiting or vomiting caused by motion sickness. It is the only FDA-approved vomiting treatment for dogs.

Maropitant citrate

Sold as:

Cerenia is sold in amber glass vials.
Each 20ml vial contains 10 mg of maropitant as maropitant citrate.

Side Effects:

The following side effects have been infrequently reported:

  • Lethargy
  • Drooling
  • Decreased appetite
  • Drowsiness
  • Diarrhea

If your dog exhibits any of these reactions, contact your veterinarian.

Special Precautions:

Cerenia should be administered with caution to:

  • Dogs who have hepatic dysfunction (liver failure).
  • Pets who are already taking other highly protein-bound medications.

Overdose:

In case of overdose, contact your closest emergency pet hospital.

Storage:

  • Store at room temperature 68-77°F (20-25°C) with excursions between 59-86°F (15-30°C) permitted
  • After puncturing first vial, Cerenia should be stored refrigerated at temperature of 36-46* F (2-8* C)
  • Stopper may be punctured a max of 25 times
  • After first puncture, use within 90 days

Tip:

Cerenia should be administered with a small amount of food (but not a full meal) two hours prior to travel.

Use as prescribed by your vet.
