Salix Tablet (Furosemide) is primarily used to treat heart failure and pulmonary edema (lung fluid). It is also used to treat some electrolyte imbalances, such as high calcium and high potassium levels.

How does it works:

Salix works by increasing the amount of salt and water that the kidneys remove from the blood. This extra salt and water is then passed out through the urine.

Sold as individual tablets in strengths of 12.5 mg & 50 mg

Possible Side Effects:

Increased thirst and increased urination. Furosemide is associated with an increase in blood sugar levels. This is not a problem for most patients but a different diuretic may be a better choice for a diabetic patient. Hearing loss has been reported, especially in cats, when large amounts of injectable salix have been used in a crisis.
